What If I Don’t Know Where I Want to Go?

Here’s a secret: not every client who hires me has a destination in mind.
Some know they want something special — a romantic escape, a dream birthday, a first trip to Europe — but they’re stuck on where to go or how to decide.
If that sounds like you, don’t worry. Helping people figure out where they should travel is one of my favorite parts of the job.
Here’s how we do it — and how I help you go from “no idea” to “flights booked.”
🌍 Step 1: Start With the Why
We begin by answering the question: What kind of experience do you want?
I’ll ask:
Is this a celebration or milestone?
Do you want slow and relaxing or full of activities?
Are you imagining cobblestone streets or coastal views?
Do you want to stay in one place or explore multiple cities?
What’s your budget and how flexible is your timing?
You don’t need to know how to answer all of those right away — I’ll guide you through it. But this part lays the foundation for picking the right destination, not just a trendy one.

🗓️ Step 2: Look at Timing & Seasons
Next, we look at when you’re traveling and how much time you have.
Why it matters:
A 7-day trip in April looks very different from a 14-day trip in October
Some destinations are amazing in shoulder season (Europe in May, Japan in November)
Others require advance booking or specific weather windows
Together, we’ll match the season to your ideal experience.
✈️ Step 3: Narrow It Down With “Trip Type” Archetypes
Here are a few examples of what I often recommend based on your vibe:
🎨 For culture, museums & history:
Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice)
Paris & Amsterdam
London & Edinburgh
🧘♀️ For rest, nature & views:
Portugal coast
Croatia & Slovenia
Iceland self-drive
Japan in autumn
🧳 For food, nightlife & city energy:
Barcelona & Madrid
Tokyo & Kyoto
New York & Montreal
Lisbon & Seville
We can build from there — combining countries, adding train routes, or balancing cities with countryside stays.

💳 Step 4: Consider Points or Rewards
If you have travel credit card points or flexible miles, I’ll factor those into the decision. Some routes or destinations give you way more value than others — and I’ll help you pick one that maximizes what you already have.
For example:
You might be able to fly to Paris in business class for under $200
Or book a luxury hotel in Tokyo using points you didn’t even know you could redeem
Or combine cash + points to stretch your budget
This step alone can save hundreds (and upgrade your experience dramatically).
🧭 Step 5: Get a Personalized Proposal
Once I know your travel style, timeframe, and goals, I’ll send you 2–3 curated destination ideas — with a short pitch for each. Think:
✨ "Option 1: A foodie-focused week in Barcelona and San Sebastián with beach days, a cava tour, and tapas crawl."
✨ "Option 2: A romantic loop through Lake Como, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast — with slower travel, private transfers, and wine tastings."
Then you choose — and I’ll build a fully custom itinerary that fits your decision perfectly.
🎯 The Takeaway
You don’t need to know exactly where you want to go. You just need to know you’re ready to go somewhere. I’ll take it from there.
