When one of my clients came to me with a vision for her 30th birthday — luxury, beauty, history, wine, and pasta — there was only one answer: Italy.
She wanted a trip that felt special but not stuffy. High-end but approachable. Something unforgettable, yet seamless. Here’s how I designed a 10-day custom itinerary through Italy’s best cities — and made her milestone birthday trip totally stress-free.

🎯 Trip Goals:
Celebrate turning 30 in style
Experience the highlights of Italy without feeling rushed
Stay in beautiful places, but stay under $6,000 total
Include birthday touches and special moments

🛫 Day 1–3: Venice
Arrival: She flew into Venice Marco Polo Airport with points via Delta and KLM. I booked a private boat transfer to her hotel — because why not start in style?
Lodging: A boutique canal-side hotel with dreamy views and breakfast delivered to the room. Under $300/night with member discounts.
Highlights:
Private walking tour of lesser-known neighborhoods
Gondola ride at sunset
Cicchetti + wine crawl through local bàcari
Day trip to Murano + Burano (included transfers and lunch)

🚄 Day 4–6: Florence
Train: First-class Trenitalia ticket — scenic and smooth in under 2 hours.
Lodging: A historic B&B steps from the Duomo with rooftop access. $200–250/night in shoulder season.
Highlights:
Skip-the-line entry to Uffizi and Accademia (with guide)
Wine tasting in the Tuscan hills — I arranged a driver
Birthday dinner with panoramic city views
Shopping at local leather and paper artisans
Optional add-on: pre-booked massage at the hotel

🚄 Day 7–9: Rome
Train: High-speed train to Roma Termini — less than 90 minutes.
Lodging: A design-forward guesthouse in Trastevere. Stylish, clean, and quiet.
Highlights:
Private tour of the Colosseum + Forum
Nighttime walking route past the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain
Aperitivo crawl through Campo de’ Fiori
Optional day trip to Tivoli or Vatican tour

🏖️ Day 10: Return via Rome or Optional Amalfi Add-On
I offered two options:
Take a day to relax in Rome and fly home
OR add 2–3 nights on the Amalfi Coast (Positano or Sorrento) with private transfer
She chose to fly home refreshed, and we saved Amalfi for next time — because yes, she's already planning another trip!
💳 Budget Breakdown
Category | Approx. Cost |
Flights (with points) | $180 in taxes |
Lodging (9 nights) | $2,400 |
Trains + Transfers | $250 |
Activities + Tours | $750 |
Food & Drinks | $900 |
Shopping & Misc | $400 |
Total | ~$4,880 |
Not bad for a 5-star birthday across 3 cities, right?
💡 How I Made It Seamless
What made this trip stress-free wasn’t just the destination — it was the custom planning:
✅ Every train, transfer, and check-in pre-arranged ✅ Custom Google Maps and itinerary guide ✅ All activities matched to her style ✅ Room to relax and make changes ✅ Special moments sprinkled throughout — including a birthday gift from me waiting at her hotel
