My Journey to Clear Skin - Curology, Worth It?!

I just need to start out by saying that this is in no way sponsored or affiliated with Curology. I simply want to share my journey with them and hopefully help out your skin!
About 2 years ago, I tried Curology for the first time. At the time, I thought my skin was at it's worst. I had seen so many influencers talking about how life changing it was for them and I didn't believe them. They were sponsored and I don't know them, they could be saying anything for money. I imagine most of us have this mindset when we see a sponsored or affiliated post. There is immediate doubt and although that I think this has reduced over the years, it’s still very present since influencing is still not quite accepted by society as a real, full time job.
Anyway, a friend of mine from when I was a kid said that she tried it and vouched for it 100%. She totally recommended it and since I trust her, I gave it a shot. After all, they offer a one month free trial, I only paid $5 for shipping for the first bottle. I went on their website and answered questions about my skin, the problems I have, and what I wanted to treat, and I also sent in pictures. They assigned a dermatologist to me and she sent me my custom formula and answered any questions I had about what each ingredient did. When I received the bottle, it recommended me to apply it every night with two squirts and rub it in in circular motions over my entire clean face with two fingers. You sleep with the treatment on and don't even need to wash it off in the morning. You can put moisturizer on over or under the treatment but it is more effective if you do moisturizer after. They say if it irritates your skin or causes dryness to switch to every other night. I never had issues so I used it religiously. In the first few weeks my skin got much worse. They explained it takes time for your skin to adjust and cleanse out everything that’s beneath the surface. After a month or so, my skin was as clear as it’s ever been. I continued using it and after a while, I got lazy. I didn't think I needed it anymore because my skin was clear. After enough inconsistency my skin was no longer clear and I blamed the formula so I stopped my subscription. Fast forwards several months and my skin had gotten worse than it was originally.
Unfortunately, I've learned my skin reacts very badly to unhealthy foods and certain times in my cycle. I also realized finally that cleanser really does make a difference. Even so, it seemed like I couldn't get it under control. I had heard other people that went through the same journey with Curology where it worked great but they got lazy. I decided to give it another go because I was also getting different types of acne than last time. I did a new quiz and sent new pictures. They gave me a new formula and I used that and it did work a bit but I wanted it to focus more on other areas so I messaged the dermatologist and she was as helpful as ever and changed my formula for the next bottle. I am currently at the end of that second bottle and my skin has finally cleared. Once again, it got worse before it got better and I do still have to watch my diet, however it has really cleared my white and blackheads. It also helps them go away faster if they do arise. I would vouch for this product now and would have 2 years ago.
The first time, I got lazy and it was totally my fault. I highly recommend you try this out and stay consistent with it because I haven't met someone it doesn't work for. I've gotten several people to try it out and they're all amazed because nothing had ever worked for them before. You can customize how often they send you a bottle but the default is 8 weeks. It is $40 for the large bottle each shipment but you can choose to add a cleanser and moisturizer as well if you like.
I once wrote a blog post saying I don't wash my face. I take that back. For my personal skin, and what I would recommend everyone try, is a combination of the following things. Eat healthy and clean, workout, wash your face everyday after that workout, use curology at night, stay hydrated, get good sleep. I know we've all heard these simple things over and over but I am the first one to admit they do actually work. Some people are genetically blessed when it comes to their skin, but to be honest, I think the products and cleansers and masks do actually make a difference, as much as it pains me to say so. And working out helps release the oils and toxins in your body and eating clean helps prevent those same toxins from being in your body in the first place. Water and sleep are just the icing on top of the cake but Curology is the perfect preventative measure to add to the rest of this basic routine.
I hope you enjoyed this post
